Somebody take away my Craigslist access...
I’ve wanted to pick up another bass for months. So this weekend, I low-balled the hell out of like 30 different people. Of those that replied, I held firm to my rediculous low-balling. A couple people grudgingly agreed to the price, including the owner of this brand new (tags and everything) Schecter riot session 4.
Everything I’ve heard says this is THE bass to have under $1500 if you want a do-anything workhorse. The action is fantastic for a new instrument, active 3 band eq, volume and pickup blend is just enough tonal control without me going crazy adjusting things constantly and the natural finish is pretty fantastic in person. I like!

I thought it was all about the fender P bass.

That was my first pick. I was told by people who are much more bass knowledgeable than me that for the money I’d be better served by this. I still want a p-bass though. It’s been too long since I had a fender of any kind in the stable

My wife had a fender P bass for a while and she said it was for playing loud music loudly. She currently has a Gibson jazz bass that is fun to play and easy to listen to but it’s not loud enough for a rock and roll band.

A good Precision Bass is a lovely thing. It has only one sound really but it is SO right for most situations. A good Jazz Bass just...incredible.
But there are a lot of great basses out there. You just gotta know. For example a made in Europe Dean Jeff Berlin Signature is a killer used deal. Kawai made a neck through Alembic clone that KILLS. Almost any made in the USA Peavey bass from the 80s to early 90s is a great player as well.

Nice! I have a super cheap bass. I need to fiddle with the action and stuff a bit to accommodate my weak fingers. Super fun to mess around in Rocksmith.

I have a Made in USA Peavey Fury from ‘93. It was my first bass. I’m finally ready to trade in.

Nice, what pickups are those?
I have a Schecter Damien 7-string and I really love it. They make quality stuff.

Well you’re on your way now. Lemmy would be happy to see that bass.
I think Rickenbackers are still cool bass guitars to use as well:

Not 100% sure. Active EMG’s of some sort. My bass knowledge is lacking!
I’ve been thinking about 7 strings for years... Someday

Guitar hero one and two were the shit. Haven’t played anything more recent, rocksmith looks pretty awesome, do you have to modify the instruments to make-up it work?

Nope. You just plug whatever guitar into the “tone cable” which is just a 1/4in plug on one end and USB on the other and the game will walk you through adjusting the levels.

Do it. It adds a whole other level.

I’ve played a multi-scale 7 string and it was absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately they’re rare and difficult enough to build that prices will probably always be pretty high... But it’s definitely a possibility! Went to NAMM and played this. If you ever see an Ormsby guitar get your hands on it
